Flag Cakes and evenings with friends! ~ July 21, 2020

We have a yearly tradition where we make a flag cake sometime in July. We always shoot for right around Independence Day, but since we were camping in the Redwood forest that weekend, it didn’t make sense. 🙂 So, we ended up planning to do it this week while we were in Milwaukee! Lover and I sat on the big porch of our Airbnb and worked on Tuesday morning. I’m trying to find the right tone for the novella we are writing for the Hurricane Chronicles. It’s been challenging!

Then I took Keilana with me and we went to the Pick n’ Save to pick up some things for dinner and for our flag cake. We had fun picking up fruit and all the necessary ingredients for our cake. Keilana managed the shopping list, and we left with everything we needed (and a couple of treats 🙂

We hung out in the afternoon, and then headed up to Cedarburg to have dinner with our friends. We love going to visit these two families when we are in Milwaukee! Our kids all played together, and Cassandra got licked and mauled (she was fine) by their fluffy white puppy. The kids and I made the cake, and then we hung out for the rest of the evening. We had so much fun that I forgot to take pictures! So nice to catch up with friends, and its so great to have friendships where we can just sit down and catch up and it’s all easy. We stayed way too late and then headed back into Milwaukee.
