Monday Lover had to work again, of course, and we had lots of laundry and organizing and school to get done. Plus the weather was FREEZING, so we cuddled up at “home” and just had a quiet day. I worked some more of the final edits of Storyteller, and waited for the book blurb girl to get back to me with the work she had done. It’s been a while since I had to trek laundry up and down stairs (it’s in the basement of this little house) and I had forgotten how much more work it is!
The big kids worked on a written report of Grand Teton and Yellowstone. It went smoother than it did last week, and I’m hopeful that by the end of the summer this is a skill that they will have improved in quite a bit! First we are focusing on being able to write that much, and then we’ll work on spelling and punctuation.
We watched a few more episodes of the Restaurants on the Edge show on Netflix that makes us want to travel to every place that’s featured. They really dive into the local food that the area is known for, which is our jam! Someday, we will go to all of these places. 🙂
Lover went to the store on his lunch break, and we had a yummy dinner together. Quarantine and lockdown really got us in a rhythm of spending the majority of our time together without other people, so in a way, this trip has just felt like an extension of that routine. Of course we miss all our friends, but we are thankful for this time together! On our way home from Yellowstone, we discussed the feelings of missing home, and how to focus on the things we like about the trip, and not the yucky parts. We also talked more in detail about the song “Another in the Fire” that we learned last week. Declan was really upset that people were being thrown into a fire! So we talked about the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and how the whole kingdom learned about God’s power. By the end of the convo, everyone understood the song better, especially Declan. 🙂
