We started out this week by publishing our second book, INTRUDER! This is the second in The Hurricane Chronicles and it’s exciting to hear that people are ordering their copies and excited to read the next installment in Reka’s story! Lover took the kids to a new park on Friday, Regional Bluffs Park. It’s about a 3 mile loop and they all had fun trying to disappear while Lover tried not to panic that they had run away too far. :P) I’m excited to check out this park once I can walk that far again, sounds relaxing!
We did a date morning on Saturday, and the change of pace was nice. While we were out, we stumbled upon a plethora of discounted flower bouquets – each for only a dollar! We picked up one for our sweet sitter, one for a friend, and then took three and combined them, and gave each kiddo their own mini bouquet. They were all very excited, and it was so fun to have such fresh and bright flowers all week cheering us all up!
Saturday we watched the Packers beat the Rams, and feel good about our chances in the championship game! It was fun to watch them win, and it was a really entertaining game to watch! Sunday we went to One Life again, and were encouraged by a visiting pastor and his message to not assume that God cannot work in strange times such as these. He gently reminded everyone that just because it’s a new year doesn’t mean we won’t have problems, but God is still God. SO true!
We watched and listened to Martin Luther King Jr’s speech on Monday and talked about it for a while with the kids. This was one of the first big discussions about slavery/history/race we’ve had with the kids, and it was interesting to see their reactions. They have such lovely souls, and are unable to understand why anyone would discriminate against someone else based on the color of their skin. In the evening I went out with friends for pho, and it was a really nice evening just relaxing and talking and catching up.
Keilana was excited to work on lessons this week that were available from the illusionist that visited AWANA this week. If she finishes all the lessons, she will receive a free magic kit, and she REALLY wants to get that magic kit! She’s been diligently working on the lessons, and she’s doing a great job.
I met up with a friend for lunch on Wednesday (we also met with friends for a double date on Tuesday evening) so there was lots and lots of social time this week – so needed, especially as I head into the last few weeks of pregnancy and then newborn stage, and I know it will be harder to get together with people for a while. Thankful for sweet friendships here in Colorado!
