Our big event today was the Ladies’ Christmas Tea at church. We took it easy in the morning, and I made sure I had time to rest, so I wouldn’t be too tired by the time the Tea came around. The kids watched shows and we hung out, read a bit and just relaxed. I got ready to go (a chance to get all dressed up!) and headed out around 12:45.
Back at home, Lover made black eyed pea gumbo with spicy andouille sausage, and fixed the French doors that the boys broke while they were playing.
We ladies had a lovely time at the tea – it was nice to have a fun event to look forward to (even if we were on pins and needles right up until the end that it would get cancelled!) and to spend some time just visiting and having “girl talk”. We talked about each other’s Christmas family traditions, and just chatted and relaxed. There was some special music, and then I spoke for about twenty minutes. I shared about the gift we’ve been given through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection and therefore defeat over sin and death. And then I talked about how, since we have received that gift, we are commanded to share it with those around us – even in a pandemic! ๐ It was a nice time, and the tea was over before we knew it. We all hung around for a bit longer chatting, and then headed back home to our families.
I went back home and tried out the gumbo – and it was fantastic! (Spoiler alert, it was even better the next day ๐ I didn’t eat much at the tea because I didn’t want to risk feeling unwell while I was talking, so I was ready for a hearty meal when I came home. We hung out and enjoyed a quiet evening together – 2020 has not been lacking those!
