Lost Teeth & Cannon Beach ~ July 2, 2020

Keilana has had a loose tooth since we left on this trip, and today she asked Lover to finally just pull it out. He obliged, and now we have a very happy girl! She checked to make sure the tooth fairy can still find her on our trip. 🙂

Flowers that the kids collected for me on our walk.

In the afternoon we headed to Cannon Beach. It was an hour and a half trip, and so worth it to get to dip our toes in the ocean! Javi was in seventh heaven. That boy loves the waves like nothing else. The kids were enchanted and played with the sand, played chicken with the waves and had the time of their lives. Lover and I mostly just sat and watched them enjoying themselves. There’s such a joy in watching your kiddos absolutely delighted!

Cassandra especially enjoyed playing chicken with the waves, or what is perhaps more accurately described as lambasting the waves. She would run away from them, but if they beat her, she would scream and yell and throw sand at the water. It was the funniest thing! Javi wrote his name in enormous letters, and we all investigated these strange little bugs that burrowed into the sand. Later we looked them up and found out they were a type of sand flea.

It was such fun, and I’m so glad we were able to get the kids to the beach, even if we came home covered in salt and sand and mess. Once we got back to the Airbnb, the owners were relaxing on their porch, so Lover rinsed off swimsuits and shoes while chatting with them, and I worked on dinner and packing us up to head out in the morning. I’ve filled a duffel with things we’re leaving in Denver next weekend, and I’m looking forward to freeing up some space! We tend to travel light, but after a month on the road, and since we’ll be leaving the PNW, I know I can count on the weather to be warmer and we’ll need less stuff. Plus there are some things I know we won’t be using much over the next two months. We’re excited for this next half of our trip to start where we start visiting all our loved ones! Can’t wait!
